About

Julia grew up in Louisville, Kentucky where she developed a passion for art, bluegrass music, and the biological sciences. Her interest in the human mind lead her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology at Tufts University. Craving more creativity and art in her life, Julia began to research careers that would challenge both her left and right mind. Finding “her people” in the field of Medical Illustration, Julia packed her bags and moved to Chicago to pursue a Master of Science in Biomedical Visualization at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Through her education, Julia has become a visual communicator, problem solver, and innovative thinker who creates visuals to teach and tell stories. Her highly specialized training in the integration of science, communication, and art inform her work and render it scientifically accurate and informative. Julia has a strong foundation in anatomy, biological sciences, and medical processes, as well as technical skills in animation, interactive and virtual/augmented reality design, and 3D modeling.

When she’s not rigging a molecule or animating in Maya, Julia can be found checking out the newest restaurant in town, playing with her Boston Terrier, or watching reruns of Friends on TV.
